ho ritornato qui

[one year ago. nothing and everything has changed]
"sentimental heart" by she & him
cried all night till there was nothin' more
what use am I as a heap on the floor?
heaving devotion but it's just no good
takin' it hard just like you knew I would
oh, oh, old habits die hard
when you got, when you got a sentimental heart
piece of the puzzle
and you're my missing part
oh, what can you do with a sentimental heart?

i'd prefer not to rant...

...but the anger that rises inside my body just may take over and flow right out of my fingertips, onto the keyboard, through the internet, out of the computer screen and into your retinas and corneas and any other part of your eyeball that allows you to read. i don't like to get political, but i just can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that people are even considering voting "yes" on proposition 8. why should some be denied the same rights as others? could you imagine if you didn't have the option to be with the person you love with your whole heart? it would kill you, and it kills me to think that people are trying to take that away from some of my dearest, most fantastic, and most genuine friends.
a photo from berlin gay pride, a day full only of love and happiness
i know what i have said is nothing new, provocative, or articulate. i could write pages upon pages of reasons as to why i feel the way i do about this "issue" (even though it shouldn't be one). i just hope the right decision is made, please vote no on 8. to quote my best friend who said to a recently engaged couple who is promoting yes on 8: "congratulations on being engaged. maybe i will be too one day. we've been together 3 years. how long have you been with your fiancé?"

went north/slightly west

in the backseat
not so long ago we took a spontaneous roadtrip to monterey. we drove the up the cliffy coast, we drove down through the dry, hot flatland. and as we traveled both directions, the conversations drifted toward a subject that seems to be the topic of the times. the topic that recently i encounter everytime i chat with a friend of the same gender and age. the topic being that of love, relationships, marriage, and children (or in my case pets). and as teal asked us questions of our ideal significant others, and weddings, and first dance songs, and names for offspring (or pets), we answered. i tried to answer carefully, precisely, for, i think i have a decent imagination. but i couldn't help but be distracted; when did we grow up?

a black and white kick

to end all professional film photography kicks. two rolls, seventy dollars. puts a damper on the wallet, but money is no object when it comes to art! right?
